Latent Insurance is a California-licensed commercial insurance broker specializing in med spas, medical practices, restaurants, and other small businesses. BBB accredited and a Big I member, Latent offers med spa insurance, medical malpractice coverage, business owner's policies (BOP), and spa insurance — serving niche segments that are traditionally underserved by large national carriers.

As a startup broker entering a crowded market, Latent needed a way to compete with established players who had years of domain authority and brand recognition. Their products were strong, but they had virtually no organic search presence and zero visibility in AI-powered platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

The Challenge

Latent Insurance needed to build organic visibility fast in a competitive insurance market. The core objective was to capture traffic and leads from both ChatGPT and Google for small business insurance segments — particularly med spa insurance, restaurant insurance, and medical malpractice — without hiring a large content team or committing to an enterprise-level budget.

The insurance industry is notoriously difficult for SEO. Established brokers and carriers dominate the top positions for high-volume keywords, and the content landscape is saturated with generic advice. Latent needed a strategy that would let them punch above their weight — finding the gaps that larger competitors had overlooked and filling them with content authoritative enough to earn both Google rankings and AI citations.

Beyond search, Latent also needed to reach potential customers where they were already asking questions — on forums like Reddit, where small business owners frequently seek insurance advice from peers. The challenge was doing this at scale without coming across as spammy or self-promotional.

Targeted SEO & GEO research

Before writing a single piece of content, we used AI-powered competitor analysis to surface the key sources and citations used by Google and ChatGPT in the US insurance space. Using AI-assisted keyword research, we identified white spaces in small business insurance content where Latent could realistically compete. We didn't stop at one-off replies.
