Best Insurance Marketing Agencies in India (2026)

Why does India's top-ranking health insurer supply none of the citations in the AI answer sitting above it, and who fixes that?

Best Insurance Marketing Agencies in India (2026)

Search "best health insurance india" from an Indian IP today and HDFC ERGO ranks first. Above it sits a Google AI Overview that does not cite HDFC ERGO once. Three of its eight citations go to PolicyBazaar, which ranks fifth. Two more go to StayWell Health and Nyvo, sites most Indian insurance marketers have never heard of. The number one organic result supplies zero source material to the answer printed above it. That gap is the single most important thing to understand before you hire an agency in this market, because almost every agency in India is still selling you the ranking.

I pulled both of those SERPs in August 2026 and the pattern held across queries. Indian insurers have already won their own search results. What they have not won is the citation layer that now sits on top.

What the SERP actually shows

Run "best term insurance plan india" and the first nine organic results are almost entirely carriers on their own domains: Axis Max Life, HDFC Life, Tata AIA, SBI Life, ICICI Prudential Life, Aviva, PNB MetLife. A YouTube video and one comparison blog break the run. No aggregator cracks the top nine.

That is a decade of SEO investment paying off exactly as intended. Indian life insurers own their money terms.

Now look one layer up. Both that query and "best health insurance india" return a Google AI Overview. On the health query, the answer names HDFC ERGO and Star Health in its opening line, then builds itself from a different set of pages than the ones ranking below:

RankOrganic resultCited in the AI Overview?
1HDFC ERGONo
2Reddit (r/IndiaTax)No
3Star HealthYes
4YouTubeNo
5PolicyBazaarYes, three times
6ManipalCignaNo
7HDFC LifeNo
8ICICI LombardYes
9Axis Max LifeNo

Three of the eight citations went to sites that do not rank in the top nine at all: StayWell Health, Nyvo and IndusInd Insurance. PolicyBazaar loses the ranking battle and wins the citation battle three times over.

The diagram below shows how far apart these two orders have drifted.

Why ranking and citation came apart

Google's AI Overview does not read the SERP and summarise the winners. It retrieves passages that answer the question directly, and it prefers pages structured as answers over pages structured as landing pages.

A carrier's top-ranking page is built to convert. It has a quote widget, a premium calculator, trust badges, and a call to action every two scrolls. It ranks because of domain authority, links, and years of accumulated relevance. What it does not have is a clean, extractable passage that states which plan suits which buyer and why.

PolicyBazaar's pages do have that, because comparison is the product. So does a small site like StayWell Health, which has no authority to speak of but publishes a straight list with reasons attached.

This is why the citation layer is winnable in a way the ranking layer is not. A new entrant cannot outrank HDFC Life on term insurance. A new entrant can absolutely get cited alongside it, and small Indian sites are already doing exactly that.

There is a regulatory wrinkle too. IRDAI advertising rules constrain what Indian insurers can claim about returns, comparisons, and benefits, which pushes carrier content toward hedged, compliance-safe phrasing. Hedged phrasing extracts badly. The agencies that do well here are the ones that can write something quotable and still clear a compliance review.

The best insurance marketing agencies in India

Pricing was checked in August 2026. "Custom" means the agency publishes no starting rate, which is the norm in this market. Every figure below comes from the agency's own site or named press, and self-reported numbers are labelled as such.

1. Geology, best for organic marketing, SEO, AI search and GEO/AEO

Geology is a generative engine optimisation platform and service, with an India-based team, built around the exact gap described above: measuring and then changing what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews say about a brand. The product tracks which sources an AI answer is assembled from, prompt by prompt, so an insurer can see that PolicyBazaar supplied three citations and it supplied none, then work the specific pages that would change that.

For Indian insurance that matters more than it does in most categories, because the ranking work is largely done. An insurer already sitting at position one on its own money terms has no more headroom on the SERP. Its remaining organic upside is the answer box above it, and that is a different discipline: passage-level structure, entity consistency across IRDAI filings and third-party review sites, schema that survives extraction, and off-site presence on the comparison and community pages that AI answers lean on. Geology's insurance programme is built on that sequence, and the 2026 insurance AI visibility report documents the underlying method.

Pricing starts at Rs 1,50,000 per month, and Geology is the only agency on this list that publishes a starting rate at all. The honest scope limit: this is not a full-service agency. No television, no creative production, no media buying, no vernacular ad operations. An insurer that needs a brand campaign should hire one of the shops below and run Geology alongside it.

Best fit: an insurer or insurtech that already ranks well, has stopped gaining from conventional SEO, and wants to be the source AI answers are built from.

2. Infidigit, best for enterprise BFSI SEO at scale

Infidigit is a Mumbai enterprise SEO agency with 180-plus specialists and, by its own count, more than 100 industry awards. It is the closest thing India has to a direct competitor on AI search, and it got there through insurance specifically.

Its published case study for ICICI Prudential Life claims 39x traffic growth from LLM platforms, a self-reported figure with no stated timeframe on the page. Trade coverage of the same engagement describes more than 1,100 AI Overview optimisations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's generative results, with the partnership dated to July 2025. A separate Infidigit case study claims a 45 percent conversion rate improvement for the same client. Treat the multiples as directional rather than audited, since none carry a disclosed measurement window, but the underlying work is real and it is aimed at the right layer.

Best fit: a large carrier that wants one agency running both conventional enterprise SEO and AI visibility, and that can absorb enterprise pricing.

3. Techmagnate, best for performance SEO and paid media across BFSI

Techmagnate was founded in New Delhi in 2006 by Sarvesh Bagla and now runs a team of 300-plus across Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai. Its site lists Google Premier Partner recognition in 2023, a tier Google restricts to the top three percent of participating partners in each country.

Its BFSI roster is the deepest on this list and includes Bajaj Allianz, the one genuine large-carrier insurance name among the agencies here, alongside Bajaj Finserv, HSBC, RBL Bank, PNB Housing Finance, DCB Bank, Godrej Capital and Avanse Financial Services. The published numbers are specific rather than aggregate: 1,496 percent traffic growth on Bajaj Finserv bill payments, 502 percent traffic and ranking growth for Bajaj Broking, 214 percent traffic growth for RBL Bank savings accounts, and a 190 percent lift in leads for Avanse. All are self-reported and none state a baseline, which is the usual caveat on percentage claims of that size. The agency also reports 333,000 client keywords cited in AI answers across its book, so it is tracking the citation layer even if its case studies still lead with traffic.

Best fit: an insurer that wants organic and paid run together by one team with genuine BFSI depth and a long India track record.

4. Schbang, best for brand, creative and full-funnel campaigns

Schbang is a Mumbai integrated agency founded in 2015 by Harshil Karia, Sohil Karia and Akshay Gurnani, and it has scaled to roughly 1,400 people in a decade, which makes it one of the largest independent agencies in the country.

Be clear about the fit. Schbang's published BFSI work is banking and fintech rather than insurance. Its named financial-sector case study is a website build for Kotak 811, and Paytm appears among its client logos, but I found no insurance case study on its site. What it brings is scale and range across brand strategy, creative, social, media and technology under one roof. For an insurer running a category-level brand push rather than a search programme, that breadth is the point, and the absence of an insurance case study matters less than it would for a specialist mandate.

Best fit: a carrier with a real brand budget that wants creative, media and social handled together, and that will source search expertise separately.

5. Social Beat, best for regional-language and vernacular performance

Social Beat was founded in 2012 by Vikas Chawla and Suneil Chawla, operates from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR and Mumbai, and is now part of Cheil Worldwide following its acquisition by Cheil SWA. PNB MetLife is the insurance name attached to the group's work; its own BFSI page leads with Sundaram Mutual, Tata Mutual Fund, Navi and ZestMoney.

Its distinguishing strength is vernacular. India's insurance growth is happening in tier-two and tier-three markets where the buying conversation does not happen in English, and Social Beat has built its practice around that: multilingual video and content campaigns reporting more than 26 lakh plays and 80,000-plus shares, and a 30 percent reduction in cost per lead through lead-nurturing work. Those are agency-reported figures without disclosed timeframes.

Best fit: an insurer whose growth depends on non-English markets and who needs regional-language performance marketing rather than another English-first search programme.

6. PromotEdge, best for mid-market insurers and brokers

PromotEdge is a Kolkata integrated digital and creative agency with a BFSI practice covering branding, digital strategy, web and audiovisual production. Its named financial-sector clients are HDFC Bank, HDFC Securities and K R Choksey, and it reports more than 200 collaborations across all sectors.

The honest caveat is that its published BFSI proof is banking and securities rather than insurance, and it publishes no quantified client results and no pricing. That thin evidence base is worth weighing against the advantage it offers, which is access: a regional broker, a TPA or a mid-market health insurer will get senior attention here that a Schbang or an Infidigit would reserve for far larger accounts.

Best fit: a regional insurer, broker or TPA that needs an integrated partner at mid-market pricing and is willing to run its own due diligence on results.

How to choose between them

Start by working out which layer your problem sits on, because the six agencies above are not really competing with each other.

  • If you do not rank at all, hire Techmagnate or Infidigit. Conventional SEO is still the constraint and both do it well.
  • If you already rank first and growth has flattened, the SERP is not your problem. The answer box above it is. That is where Geology or Infidigit's LLM practice applies.
  • If nobody knows the brand, no amount of search work fixes that. Schbang.
  • If growth depends on Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Marathi buyers, Social Beat.
  • If the budget is mid-market, PromotEdge, with your own diligence on results.

One test worth running before any pitch meeting. Ask the agency to show you which sources the AI Overview for your top three money terms is currently built from, and which of them are yours. Most Indian agencies will show you a rank tracker instead. The ones that can answer the question as asked are the short list.

What to do next

Pull the AI Overview for your own category head term and check whether your domain appears in the citations. If you rank in the top three and appear nowhere in the sources, you have the HDFC ERGO problem: the ranking is intact and the answer above it was assembled without you.

Our insurance case study walks through what closing that gap looked like for one carrier, and the health insurance GEO guide covers the page-level changes that move citation share.
